Genetically Modified Chickens


In this section of Seattle Organic Restaurants I’m going to talk about genetically modified chickens.
“Chickens or turkeys have often broken legs or wings because they are shoved into SMALL CAGES OR TRUCKSwith little or no food and water”
“Chicken are GENETICALLY MODIFIED with hormones, carcinogens, GMOs, corn pills, arsenic and drugs so they become LARGER FASTER and as a result they often CRIPPLE under their own weights”
“These chickens or turkeys suffer with ammonia, bronchitis, weakened immune system, failed organs or respiratory problems during their short lives of 6 weeks until they get slaughtered”
“One out of three kids born after the year 2000 is OBESE. We are what we eat! Consuming all these hormones, drugs, antibiotics, GMOs, carcinogens and corn through the livestock’s meat have caused severe chronic diseases such as obesity, cancer, cardiovascular disease and diabetes

Since the loss of family farm lands by consolidation of larger land holders many chickens, cows, pigs and turkeys are living and mistreated in the worst pathetic inhumane conditions so they get slaughtered by machines. The food industry is very well aware that if people knew and could see what they are eating, they wouldn’t want to eat it at the first place.

These food companies have the images of healthy happy living live stocks in the cover of their products, but the reality could not be any further than the truth. These chickens are raised in filthy cages their whole lives while being mistreated. The chickens are fed corn, drugs, hormones, GMOs and other craps to grow faster and become larger until because of their heavy weights many become crippled or suffer from all kinds of diseases like bronchitis, ammonia, weakened immune system, respiratory problems or organ failures. These chickens are also fed all kinds of drugs that have arsenic and antibiotics, but what the food industry doesn’t want you to know is that based on the Consumer Reports two thirds of chickens in the grocery stores are contaminated with dangerous bacteria or salmonella.

Even lately FDA finally came out clean on this issue and admitted that chickens in the US contain arsenic. Arsenic is a toxic chemical that causes cancer or even death in high dosages. Consumers should know that arsenic is added to chickens diet by food industry on purpose. Studies show a strong correlation between cancer and the amount of arsenic in human body. The truth is that chicken meat we buy at the grocery store contains all kinds of hormones, antibiotics, arsenic, GMOs and carcinogens.
In August 2010 the FDA raided Rawsome grocery store in California where people bought raw milk and fresh products. They poured down all the raw milk, fresh fruits and vegetables down the drain but they stand still when our food is contaminated with hormones, GMOs and dangerous carcinogens and they often regard it as safe. With all the life threatening consequences of arsenic the FDA still strongly claims that the level of arsenic in chickens is so low that is safe to eat. Well I bet the FDA knows that arsenic is a dangerous carcinogen that causes cancer. Exactly like hormones, corn and antibiotics that are fed to live stocks and are the main root of obesity.

Well I heard people say there is no scientific evidence or proof that obesity is because of high fructose corn syrup, GMOs or hormones. But what bigger evidence does anyone need than the rate of obesity, cancer, heart disease anddiabetes that have exploded in the last few years? When you watch the American movies in 1970s and 1980s you do not see that too many overweight or obese people, but right know you just need to look around and see that one out of three Americans are either obese or overweight. 20% of kids have plaque buildup in the arteries, many kids are now diagnosed with type two diabetes!
I have one question for the ones who believe that use of hormones, chemicals, and genetically modified induced foods in our food have nothing to do with all the chronic diseases we see every day in a friend, close family member or a neighbor. Our DNA hasn’t changed for the last few decades but out environment surly has. How could the rate of obesity, cancer, cardiovascular disease and diabetes go drastically up in just few decades if our DNA hasn’t changed since then? I'm not necessary suggesting that use of chemicals and hormones is changing DNA of chickens but I'm pointing to the large wave of chronic diseases waiting for this new generation of obesity because of these chemicals, hormones and GMOs. We consume meat full of hormones, chemicals and bacteria, how do we expect not to get sick and not even relate these chronic diseases to our food supply? Thanks to food industry now our children at the age of 10 are diagnosed with diabetes and plaque buildup in their arteries.
